Course Catalog
The courses below are designed to provide a full academic year of instruction for high school students (and advanced middle schoolers) if taken collectively.
Composition & Literature
Each composition course focuses on specific literature and writing genres, which are indicated in the titles of the courses and explained in detail in the Course Descriptions. The learning materials set a firm foundation for writing essays typical of university or college level composition courses, preparing middle school and high school students for a bright academic future in higher education.
Tuition includes a total of 4.5 hours of optional live instruction, offered via an introductory meeting and four weekly one-hour meetings. These live meetings consist of digital learning activities designed to teach the order and structure of composition, as well as thoughtful conversations with classmates centered around the assigned literary selections. Live sessions are recorded, so students may choose to attend in-person or watch the session at a later time.
Plato's Myth of the Winged Soul: Responding to Literature through Journal Writing and Personal Narrative is the prerequisite for the other four Composition & Literature courses. The other four courses in the series can be taken in any order.
Students receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the course if they achieve 80% of total points available. Parents may request a detailed transcript of the course contents to add to student portfolios and to assist with college applications. Letters of recommendation are available for students who demonstrate a strong work ethic and high skill level throughout our time together.

English Language Learners
These courses are designed for learners whose first language is not English. Lessons within the courses are divided into several categories: Pronunciation, Vocabulary, Dialogue, Grammar, and Current Events. The content is organized and easy to revisit any time before or after a live meeting. Years of experience working with clients from all parts of the world has taught me that lessons work best when the materials are organized and structured but the pacing and order in which we learn those materials are flexible and built around individual ability levels.
If you would like to schedule a free, twenty-minute trial lesson to assess your fluency level and determine ways to maximize the content in the ELL courses for your unique, personal language goals, fill out the form below. We’ll send several open meeting time options, so that you can choose the most convenient time for your free, live assessment.
Weslea Bell
I’m Weslea Bell and I’m so glad to meet you. Thank you for joining me on this learning adventure!
I teach Composition, Literature, Rhetoric, and Grammar courses and have been doing so for three decades. Interacting with students on all grade levels in private school, public school and university settings, has allowed me to foster a unique teaching style and design tons of original course materials. I love sharing my deep love and respect for the English language with others.
I hold a current and active Professional Tennessee Teaching License and have a Master of Arts in English from Mississippi State University, as well as a Gifted Teaching Certification from Mississippi College.
In addition to teaching in both public school and private school traditional classrooms, I homeschooled my two daughters, which was one of the most fulfilling, truly meaningful, and profoundly humbling experiences I’ve ever had as an educator and as a person.
I currently serve as the Dean of Artos Academy, a comprehensive learning platform and extension of Artos Digital. I look forward to encouraging you and equipping you to reach your academic and intellectual goals!
