Topper Reid
Topper is a graduate of Samford University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with over forty years church experience as a church minister, practitioner and church coaching strategist. He spent thirty years in six different churches as the Minister of Education and the last ten-plus years as a church coaching strategist. All six churches experienced growth in baptisms, Sunday School attendance, enrollment and ministry development. While at Hunter Street Baptist Church, LifeWay designated Hunter Street Baptist Church as a teaching church where he led his team to share principles and ministry models with churches across the United States.
Hunter Street Baptist Church received twenty Sunday School Eagle Awards for outstanding growth, development and training, baptized 2,397 people, started over 260 new Sunday School classes and saw Sunday School attendance increase from 800 to over 3,500 and worship attendance top 4,000 during Topper’s 13.5 year tenure there.
Topper has written numerous articles for LifeWay Christian Resources and provided extensive training as a contract worker for LifeWay and the Alabama Baptist State Convention.
In 2004, Topper began a six-year ministry with Myrick, Gurosky and Associates (mgandassociates.com) where he served as Director of Church Development. His primary role was to recruit church clients and work with those churches to improve their ministry systems and strategies. In 2010, he started his own church coaching team. Around 2012, Bill Taylor of Unlimited Partnerships, invited Topper to become the leading church strategist for Unlimited Partnerships. He has served in that capacity since and has been involved in ministering to churches across the southeastern U.S. as a consultant, coach and church strategist.
Topper lives in Hoover, Alabama, where he is an active member of Hunter Street Baptist Church. He and his wife, Diane, are blessed to have three grown children and eight grandchildren. They attend Hunter Street Baptist Church as a family.
Topper also has an unusual hobby – he loves being a handy man! He has the God-given ability to just about fix anything. He loves home improvement, how-to videos, carpentry, landscaping, and home repair. One of his favorite TV channels is HGTV. Several years ago, Topper and his wife added a second floor to their existing home which added upstairs space for her heirloom sewing business (mothergooseboutique.com) with an office, cutting room, walk-in closet, den and a full bath.
